We kicked off our island stay with the pretty much the best fourth of July ever. We had a full house (with Owen, the kids, and me, both my sisters Avery and Alyssa, my nephew Justen, and Bree) and I enjoyed every minute of it...
We woke up bright and early (after a fabulous LATE dinner at Joe's the night before and not going to bed until well after midnight) and Ave and I headed over to Tidelands park to meet Tara and Krista for a 5k (and 15k for Ave). It was a beautiful run all along the bay and for the first time I didn't feel like I was going to die at the end...I actually could have kept going, this was definately a first.
I don't know why we do after run pics...we really should do before run pics...
After a super yummy breakfast (thanks Owen) we went out to Orange Ave. to watch the parade...my favorite part were the bagpipes, I just LOVE them and all the drummers made me think of Tim. They had blocked off all of Orange Ave. and people were biking and walking down the side opposite of the parade...another fun island treat...we wished they would have left it that way all day.
Hadyn wanted to be in the parade...we had to pull her out of the street a few times...
And Dax was just too cute...
After the parade, in true island style, my sisters and I biked to lunch at the Del...
The food was super yummy, the view was beautiful and company was simply the best. I also have got to give props to our fabulous photographer, we will call him Jose, he pulled out all the stops to take some great pictures! Thanks Jose!!
I miss you girls...ALOT!!
We had fun wondering the shops and trying on all kinds of hats...but the beach was calling. After gathering the troops, we had a wonderful afternoon at the beach, where I sat back and relaxed while everyone else entertained my kids (I highly recommend bringing four babysitters on vacation with you).
We planned on walking back to Tidelands park to watch the fireworks but Dax was exhausted and so was I...so I put him to bed. Everyone else went on there way to watch the show, while Owen, the kids and I went up to our bedroom balcony and enjoyed the amazing view of the fireworks from there. It was the perfect ending to our wonderful day.
