birthday boy

6 years ago today...

Drake arrived and our lives have never been the same...I couldn't have dreamed for a sweeter, more loving child to join our family. Drake has been all boy since day one...and the complete opposite of his older sister. He loves to snuggle, give hugs and kisses and to be as close to you as possible at all times...which I hope he never grows out of this...except those nights when he decides he wants to sleep in our bed.

I get endless compliments on Drake in class at school and church on how well he behaves, listens, follows directions, kind to everyone, and just an all around great kid and good example. Sometimes I wonder why he can't display all these attributes at home as well, but I would prefer it this way any day. I hope these qualities never leave him.

Drake loves to play legos, pirates, anything star wars (though I am pretty sure he has never seen the movies) and the wii as well as the occasional polly pockets, and house...he does have 2 sisters...I am raising a well rounded kid! He also loves football and can't wait to start again in the fall. He also loves pretty much anything to do with art and making a mess...he will tell me he can't draw anything and then produce this great drawing of a car or forest or something, he gets frustrated when he is drawing and will often go through 10 papers before he is statisfied...he is a perfectionist just like his sister, mom, and dad...guess my kids have no chance.

When I can get him to clean/organize he does a fabulous job...but most the time it is a fight to get him to do his chores, he is always too tired, too hungry, too something...just another one of his quirks that makes me laugh..."we just finished eating but you are too hungry to do the dishes...let's think about that statement"

Drake loves his sisters and brother...sometimes a little too much, he doesn't know his own strength when hugging, kissing or tickling. He and Taryn are the best of friends...most times, they can play together so nicely for hours on end. It will be only a matter of time before he outgrows her...I am asked all the time if they are twins.

Drake is just like his Dad, when he lays down at night to go to sleep...he is out within 2 minutes...a quality I wish I had.

Drake brings so much joy and love to our family each and every day and I can't imagine our family without him.
